Web designers don’t matter

It’s simple. Design is useless. Making something look pretty is just an excuse for housing bad content, why else would you want to detract by adding fancy design elements? Net-surfers want usability, not pretty looking screenshots. So in order to increase your traffic, you must keep it simple, then people will flow to your site and start donating.

    Web designers don’t matter
Bolton over at Trafficmaker has a point which many will choose not to see, mostly the web design community will deny totally. Housing substandard content in pretty and flashy design elements is a waste of time.

Guy, I have had the exact same experience. I just wonder why these people are so narrow minded, as this topic on deisgn is straight forward!

The fact of the matter is, if something looks boring then people aren’t going to spend time reading it. Web designers exist because this is true of most people and web designers now specialise in making a website look good and interesting. Anyone with 5 minutes and a page generator can cobble a website together and no one denies that. The reason companies continue to pay good money for sites is so that once your site is discovered, people stay on it. You’ve tried doing that with breasts (and it worked, that’s why I’m here!) but others do that with nice designs and interesting lay outs. They find the ASA and Ofcom and the local church group tend not to get in touch with them that way.
